Terms of Service
Last updated: July 25, 2026
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cantabook websites, applications, personal blogs, APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using Cantabook, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Cantabook. If you use Cantabook on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
3. The Service
Cantabook is a blogging and publishing platform that lets writers create accounts, use a rich text editor, publish articles to a personal blog (typically at a subdomain such as https://{username}.cantabook.com), manage media, and view basic analytics. Features may change over time. We may add, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service with or without notice.
Cantabook is free to start. We may introduce paid plans, usage limits, or additional features later. If we do, we will communicate material pricing changes in advance where required.
4. Accounts and Security
- You must provide accurate information and keep your account details up to date.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
- Protect access to the email address and devices you use to sign in. Login codes and sessions are sensitive.
- Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that appear compromised, abusive, or in violation of these Terms.
5. Your Content
Ownership
You retain ownership of the content you create and publish on Cantabook ("Your Content"), including text, images, and other materials you upload, subject to any third-party rights in that material.
License you grant us
To operate the Service, you grant Cantabook a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, distribute, display, perform, modify (for formatting, display, or technical reasons), and create technical derivatives of Your Content solely as needed to provide, promote, and improve the Service. This includes displaying public posts on your blog, generating previews, caching, backups, and search/AI indexing endpoints such as llms.txt where enabled.
Public publishing
When you publish content, you understand it may be publicly available, indexable by search engines and AI agents, and shareable by readers. You are solely responsible for deciding what to publish.
Your responsibilities
- You have all rights needed to post Your Content and to grant the license above.
- Your Content does not infringe others' intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
- Your Content complies with these Terms and applicable law.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Cantabook to:
- Violate any law or regulation, or encourage others to do so.
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, fraudulent, or that exploits or endangers minors.
- Infringe copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, or other proprietary rights.
- Distribute malware, phishing, scams, or deceptive practices.
- Spam, scrape, crawl, or overload the Service in a way that harms reliability or other users (except ordinary search engine indexing of public pages).
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, security features, or related networks.
- Use the Service to build a competing product by systematically copying Cantabook's non-public materials or abusing the platform.
- Circumvent usage limits, access controls, or safety measures.
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe violate these rules or create risk for Cantabook or others.
7. Intellectual Property of Cantabook
The Service, including its software, design, branding, logos, and documentation (excluding Your Content), is owned by Cantabook and its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use Cantabook trademarks or branding except as needed to identify your blog as hosted on Cantabook in a truthful way.
8. Copyright Complaints
If you believe content on Cantabook infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected] with enough detail for us to locate the material and respond (including your contact information, a description of the work, the URL of the allegedly infringing content, and a good-faith statement of your rights). We may remove or disable access to content and, where appropriate, terminate repeat infringers.
9. Third-Party Services
Cantabook may allow embeds, links, or integrations with third-party services. Those services are not under our control. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms and policies. Cantabook is not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices.
10. Termination
You may stop using Cantabook at any time and may request account closure by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate access immediately if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including ownership, licenses already exercised for operational needs, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity) will survive.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CANTABOOK DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that content will be preserved without loss. You use Cantabook at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important content.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CANTABOOK AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID CANTABOOK IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, the limits apply to the fullest extent allowed.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cantabook and its operators from and against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. General
- These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Cantabook regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements on the same subject.
- If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Cantabook's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local consumer protections apply.
